Quarrying and Crushing

Air Strips and Tank Pads for Cumberland Resources

As part of our site development work, Tercon performed the initial blasts onsite, developed the quarries and crushed the material for air strip and tank pads. We also opened up the gravel esker located 8 to 12 km from site and transported the material to site using snow pack roads and frozen lakes as the transportation corridor.

Drilling and Blasting the Oilsands

Tercon was contracted to perform drilling of the frozen muskeg during the cold months and the drilling in Suncor's limestone quarry in the warm months. The drilling of the muskeg in the winter lowered the muskeg stripping costs as the excavation was made easier, and substantially reduced wear on the equipment.
